The Venture Bros. – Season 4.5 Ending with Pulp’s Like A Friend
For those of you who didn’t know, I am a huge fan of The Venture Bros. on Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim. The show just gets better and better with each season and with all of the cultural and generational references, (it’s makers are after all Gen X), there is so much in it that I can relate to. You kind of have to be familiar with the ongoing story line that threads through all of the episodes and with the character development and the relationships between the characters to get the full impact of the final scene from Season 4.5, but even if you aren’t familiar, I think that the final scene in the finale of Season 4.5 really drives home the importance of friendships and the ups and downs we all face in life. Or maybe I’m just reading too much into a comedy / satire cartoon. Anyhow, the final scene is set to Pulp’s Like A Friend in it’s entirety. Given the relationship between Molotov Cocktease and Brock Samson and Samson’s unwavering friendship and growing attachment to the Venture family and their friends, it’s some of the best use of existing music in a soundtrack I’ve seen and heard in ages.
